Adequate Water Intake - How Much Water Are You Drinking?

Did you know that you can increase good health by making
sure that you get enough water? Yes plain water that has
been purified in some way. The water most of us get from the
tap is full of chemicals that is bad for our health. Do
not drink tap water, unless you have your own well, which
you know is not contaminated.

Drinking water is essential for a healthy body. Water regulates body
temperature, lubricates joints, keeps skin youthful and
muscles strong.

Water is present in every cell and tissue and involved in so
many biological functions: digestion, absorption,
circulation and excretion. It helps us with keeping our
hormones balanced and our brain chemistry Relies on water
for proper balance. Water gives us energy and strengthens
the immune system.

Most people are not drinking enough water and are semi
dehydrated. Your body cannot work at optimum level without
the water it needs.

What happens when you don't drink enough water?

I won't go into all the details, but do want to mention a
few things here. All the things mentioned above that water
helps keep in balance and lubricated are affected when you
don't drink water. You will not feel as well as you possibly
could, your body does not have what it needs for good health
and so your health declines.

Here is one example of what I mean: When you do not get
enough water throughout the day, your body just does not
have the needed fluid and sometimes tries to pull it from
where it can and distribute it to the places that need
hydration the most. One place that water is pulled from is
your digestive system. When you do not drink enough water it
leads to constipation.

As we all know, constipation is not a good thing. Besides
the uncomfortable, sick feeling there are other things going
on. Transit time slows down and some of the toxins and
poisons dumped into the digestive system begin to
recirculate.

If you do become constipated, I would suggest using Natural Moves. Natural Moves is a 100% natural, safe and effective herbal remedy to stop constipation naturally without risk of dehydration,
mineral imbalance or dependency.

Natural Moves Tablets can be used both for chronic and occasional constipation. The herbs used in Natural Moves promote healthy digestion and act as a good liver tonic, avoiding the risk of dependency and side effects associated with some other laxative products. Click here for Natral Moves Tablets.

As these toxins build up they store in your tissues causing
ill health. Kidneys separate water from the waste in the
blood, so there is a strain put on them when toxicity
levels increase. Along with that the Liver then has quite a
bit more to do, trying to detoxify the system as a whole.

Drinking water is the most important drink you can consume for good health. With this being the case, I suggest that you drink
one quart of water for every 50 pounds of weight. So if you
weighed 150 pounds, you would need to drink 3 quarts of
water.

I also find it best if a person will actually measure the
needed water out, into a container each day. Other wise
most people lose track of how much they did drink. So they
usually do not drink enough water for the day.

Why not put this information to use today? No matter where
your health is at this point, consuming drinking water in the required amount will aid you in reaching better health and maintaining it.

Have Dog Allergies And Cat Allergies And Own A Pet?

Many of us are aware that we need to keep the dust, dust mites and mold down to a minimum in our homes, if we have allergies. But how often do we think about our dog and cat as a source of allergens?

If you have allergies and own a dog or cat, listen up. The skin particles shed by dogs and cats, known as dander, can rapidly spread through the house and cause allergic reactions for any allergy sufferer.

If your cat or dog must be in the house, confine them to certain rooms and do not let them in your bedroom. Those skin particles combine with dust mites, molds and other allergens and stick around in the bedroom, a room that we spend a lot of time in. If you have allergies, do not let the pet sleep with you. You would be in close contact with the dander For a number of hours.

Give the pets a regular bath

You can regularly bathe cats, whose dander is particularly allergenic. It is best to start out with bathing when they are young, so that they don’t fight it. Pet owners can get most cats to cooperate during the bath by holding onto the nape of their necks, which restricts their movements. Another option is to wipe them down with a wet wash cloth on a regular basis.

Dogs, no matter what size need a regular bath if they are to be in the house as well. Use soaps and flea repellants from the Health Food Store to keep possible causes of your allergy reactions to a minimum.

Vacuum and dust often, to keep all the shed particles from working their way deep into the carpets and upholstery. Buy specialized bags that prevent dust from blowing back into the air. The bags fit most standard vacuum cleaners and cost about $9 to $15 for a pack of three.

Also consider washing or changing you’re filter in your heating cooling system more often. You may want to purchase an air filtration system for your home as well.

Pets, whether a cat or dog do people a world of good. The above information may allow a person with allergies to keep their pet by identifying the pet as an allergen source and then taking proper measures to keep the living space as free as possible of the pet dander.

Heart Health – Fish Oils To The Rescue

In a world where heart disorders and diseases are becoming more common, lets take a look at something most of us can add to our weekly diet for prevention of heart problems.

Omega 3 fatty acids, found in fish oil promotes heart health. A daily dose of fish oil has helped prevent, slow or even reverse the hardening and narrowing of arteries in heart disease in some studies.

In the current issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine, researchers from the University of Munich report that a fish-oil capsule a day may``modestly'' improve blood flow to the heart and bolster traditional therapy in patients with atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. In a study of 223 men and women, those who took a dose of fish oil per day for two years had fewer atherosclerosis complications such as heart attack and stroke.

Fish oil, found in fish such as salmon, it is a key component of the low-saturated-fat Mediterranean diet that has been linked to the lower incidence of heart disease in that area of the world.

How does fish oil work? Researchers are not ready to say, but one team of doctors used x-ray to peer into patients heart arteries at the beginning And end of one study. They found that after two years, the arteries of the fish-oil patients, on average, offered more room for blood flow to flow through, with less plaque.

The improvements were not dramatic, however the doctor’s team concluded that the benefits found in this study are significant enough to warrant including fish oil as part of traditional heart-disease treatment. At minimum, taking a daily capsule or dining on fish twice weekly would fulfill the needed amount.

Fish oil has also been found to help heart rhythm problems and can help to thin the blood as well. Research continues and always finds Fish oils to be helpful for the heart. It is certainly worth adding fish a couple times per week to the diet, isn’t it?

A Better Understanding Of Acne

It is a fact that close to 90 percent of all adolescents and almost 25 percent of all adults are acne sufferers. And although acne affects about 50 percent of all adult women, acne can and does affect males and females worldwide, regardless of nationality.

Why does acne occur?

There are a few simple steps occur that cause skin blemishes and acne

First, acne occurs when for some unknown reason or combination of reasons, hair follicles, also known as pores, become blocked.

Some contributing elements for teenagers and adults alike:
*genetics (whether or not there is a history of acne problems and if so, to what extent)
*hormones
*dietary and vitamin deficiency
*stress related factors.

One contributing factors to acne can be how your body normally rids itself of its dead skin cells and any thing that may be working against this regularity.

So such things such as climate, your environment or your overall body health at the time can contribute to acne. As well, your hormones and their effect on your own body's sebum production can contribute to acne, especially for females.

Second reason: the normal dead skin cells that combine with your body's natural sebum oil as it drains through the skin's surface become clogged in these blocked pores. This substance becomes somewhat sticky, further clogging the passageway.

Third reason for acne: bacteria begins to grow around these clogged areas. As a normal reaction your, your body's white blood cells attack the bacteria, fighting it and pushing it out of the body.

And forth reason for acne: the resulting growths during this 14-day to 21-day battle are called microcomedones. Microcomedones turn into comedones, commonly referred to as blemishes, pimples or acne.

It can be painful and it is annoying There are many things to do to stop acne from reoccurring. Click here to learn more.about a very good, natural skin cream that helps heal acne skin.

Weight Loss And Diet - Watch Your Carbohydrates

I know, I know. The pounds crept back up there didn't they? Please consider these points before deciding to diet again. Perhaps changing your STYLE of eating, rather than a weight loss diet is the answer. This will give you a life long answer to losing weight, rather than a short term quick fix.

Read this weight loss information, switch to a slow burning carbohydrate diet and build health while you work at weight loss.

The same style of eating is not right for everyone. Neither is the same diet. Most of the overweight people that I see wanting to diet are having a metabolic problem related to a blood sugar imbalance, which can include hyperinsulinism and insulin resistance. Let's discuss the role of carbohydrates (starches) and how our body reacts to the consumption of carbohydrates.

What does our body do with carbohydrates?

Carbohydrate foods convert to sugars that trigger insulin production, which our body needs for certain processes, and triggers fat storage. So does sugar. Bottom line: that is how the body works. There is no use trying to fight it, instead work with your body.

The first step is to check how much carbohydrates and sugar you are taking in every day. It means eating smaller portions of the things we love that are carbohydrates and cutting out the things that are bad for us such as sugar containing products and refined foods.

Will protein help?

Protein is the counter balance to the carbohydrate problem. Getting 1/2 the grams of protein to the grams of carbohydrates is a good place to start. Eat more protein containing foods and less carbohydrates. Protein also builds muscle mass which helps to burn fat.

You don’t eat bigger portions, you eat more protein and less carbohydrates. Eat a little more often as well, so that the blood sugar remains more stable without the ups and downs. So that would mean eat 4 to 6 times a day.

Now go to your cupboard and take out a few packaged goods. Take a good look at the carbohydrate to protein ratio per serving. Lets start off with some cookies: Carbohydrates 17g, Protein 2g, (This was a Health Food Store Cookie, check yours! Carbs are usually much higher.) Penne Pasta: Carbohydrates 41g, Protein 7g. Oatmeal: Carbohydrates 27g, Protein 6g. Ouch! Not enough protein in any of these to counter balance the carbohydrates.

Do you get the picture yet? For weight loss most of us need to cut back on the carbohydrates.

Check the Glycemic Index

For an in depth discussion of how foods raise blood sugar. Search for "Glycemic Index" on the internet and note the carbohydrates that burn slowly - these will be low on the glycemic index. So you want to emphasize the carbohydrates that have the lower numbers and stay away from the high glycemic index foods.

Other Suggestions

Other good things to do for balance are - drink 1 quart of water for every 50 lbs. of weight.

Eat plenty of vegetables. You should have 7 to 9 servings of vegetables and fruit a day. 1/2 cup servings, so this equals nearly one quart of vegies and fruits at the higher range.

They provide the bulk that we need to avoid constipation and are the primary source of minerals and vitamins we need every day. Limit root vegetables as these are more starchy, containing more carbohydrates. Examples: carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams and beets.

Eat some fruit every day. Leave fruit juice out of you diet except for the rare occasion.

Eat raw foods everyday, Eat freshly made, not pre-packaged foods. Drop white flour products, refined products and sugar from your daily diet - make them a rare treat for special occasions.

Add to your regime digestive enzymes with each meal. By putting cooked, microwaved, and processed foods (foods with no live enzymes left) into the body it is then forced to draw on its own account of enzymes, metabolic and digestive, to do the job.

Eventually we deplete our account and the body has to completely rely on itself, pulling from the enzyme and immune system to digest food instead of rebuilding the body and fighting illness. When you cannot digest your food well, you can end up adding on the pounds.

Start Making Changes Today!

What I have stated is not specific for each person. However, I believe the over consumption of carbohydrates is the leading cause of obesity in the United States. It is time to do something about this.

Make healthy choices! Lower your carbohydrate consumption for healthy weight loss. Do not cut carbohydrates out completely, however a lower carbohydrate diet may be what you need for weight loss.

This will help you now and decrease your likelihood of developing blood sugar problems, including Diabetes later.

Healthy Eating: Eating Healthy when you don't want to

For some people it is really hard to give up the junk food and sweets and start eating healthy. So let's use the example of eating the 5 to 9 fruits and vegetables we need daily.

There are ways to work with your mind so that it becomes much easier and more enjoyable to eat all those servings of vegetables we need each day. Eating healthy will be appealing to you.

Did you know that you think in pictures?

You are motivated by the things that you want to move away from that might cause emotions you don’t want such as pain, grief, anger etc. Examples: Ill health, overweight, not being able to join your family due to sickness is certainly things you want to move away from.

You are also motivated by the things you want to move towards. Emotions that would go with this are feeling happy, satisfied, loved, forgiven, respected, etc.

Move away from or move towards. These two ways you are motivated are the key to help you get past your dislike of vegetables and fruit if that is the problem .

Decide which type you are. Which are you most motivated by? Do you put moving away foremost in your mind or moving toward?

Ready to Start? Grab some vegetables. Look at them, feel them taste them, Chew on them. Snap them, break them up and hear the crunchiness. Involve as many of your senses as you can.

While doing that, do one of two things:

If motivated by what you are moving away from:

Paint the picture of what you are leaving behind. Accentuate the problems. Make them look really big and bad in your picture. Show your self what the big bad picture would be like a year from now or 5 years from now if you continued eating your bad diet. Put a lot of feeling into this.

If motivated by what you are moving towards:

Paint a big bright picture of what you will look like and feel like when you are eating healthy and have better health. Think about who you love, who loves you and what you want to do and could do when you have good health.

Maybe you are not sure where you fit in to this process. Then play both pictures for yourself. Really put some pictures in your head. Use plenty of color. Turn the sound up.

Now which did you feel more motivated to eat the vegetables you need?

Play this picture over and over again as you build healthy eating habits, especially focus on your vegetables and this will help you stay on track for better food choices and health.

The Ear That We Can See

By Albert S. Lyons |

There are men and women on islands in the Pacific Ocean who look as if they thought their ears were made on purpose to hold flowers or tobacco pipes. They prick a hole through the flesh of the ear, stretch it and pull it, and put one small rolled-up leaf after another into it until the hole is large enough to hold their pipe or their flowers. Sometimes, indeed, it is so large that a man may slip his hand and arm through it to his elbow.

These people feel very fine when they look like that. He is in the height of fashion, and other people envy him. Many women in America used to be almost as foolish. But earrings are not the fashion now, so these women go without them.

Look around at the ears in the room where you are and see what each one is like. Just a piece of flesh and gristle with ridges in it, and a hole in the middle,—that is all you will see. It is not always beautiful, but it is useful, and if you did not have any ears on the sides of your head you would look queer enough.

Yet ears have different shapes. Some are large and some are small; some are long and some are short; some grow close to the head and some stand off like little sails. If you want your ears to be flat against your head, be careful not to sleep with them doubled over; be careful also not to press them out of place either with your bonnet strings or by crowding them down with your cap. For the sake of our friends who have to see us, it is well to do what we can to have bodies that are pleasant to look at.

To tell the truth, a well-shaped ear improves the looks of any one. It also helps to catch sounds from every direction and send them into the hole in the middle of the side of the head. This hole is indeed far more important than the rim itself.

Poke your finger in and see how small it is; cover both ears at once with your hands and notice how little you can hear. If you should stop it up entirely you would hardly hear anything at all, for it is the outside end of the tube that carries sound from the world for us to hear.

It is about one inch long, and the deeper it goes the narrower it gets. Wax and a few hairs do what they can to keep the insects out; yet it is this very wax that troubles us sometimes. The best way to get rid of it is to use a soft, damp cloth over the end of the finger.

Never use anything sharper or harder than that, for the drum itself is at the opposite end of the hole,—the smallest drum and the busiest drum in the world.

The hole is so small and the tube is so narrow that you see no sign of this drum, even if you put your eye close to the opening and look in as far as you can. Doctors know another way, however. First goes in a silver tube; then a reflector. This sends light to the bottom of the tube and shows the bit of skin that we call the eardrum. It is stretched across the round bottom of the tube and fastened tight on every side.

A man may use the brightest light he can get; he may send it down as far as it will go; yet he will see nothing beyond the eardrum, for it hides everything on the other side. It never opens unless something enters and breaks it, or unless some disease injures it. Thousands of people do not know how easy it is to break the eardrum.

Yesterday I saw a full-grown man put a pointed pencil into his ear and turn it slowly round and round. He acted as if he were giving himself a good scratching. Some day his hand may not be steady, or a neighbor may hit his elbow; the hard point may then break its way through his eardrum and damage it forever.

Strangely enough, boxing the ears may do the same thing. You know how it is when you hit a paper bag full of air: the paper is sure to split from end to end with a bang. Quite in that way it happens sometimes with an eardrum. An angry man brings his hand down hard on a boy's ear; more air crowds in than the ear can hold, and the drum splits like a paper bag. Shouting in the ear may do it, too; even a kiss on the hole of the ear may break the drum.

Avoid all these things. Think how careful men are to keep dust out of their watches. Remember that ear machinery is more precious than any watch machinery that was ever made, and that dust may damage it through a hole in the eardrum.

Fight Cancer With Broccoli Sprouts

By Jeannie Crabtree C.Ac.

Mom was right to insist on us eating our vegetables. She
knew they built health and gave us the minerals we need.
Now scientists have found that we can eat foods to help
us both prevent cancer and fight cancer.

Take Broccoli sprouts. Broccoli sprouts are rich in a
compound that provides significant protection against breast
cancer and colon cancer. The compound is called sulforaphane glucosinalate.

Sprouts grown from certain types of broccoli seeds contain
up to 50 times more of this compound than mature broccoli
to help you fight cancer.

My research shows that a brand of sprouts developed at John
Hopkins University is guaranteed to have 20 more times the
SGS compound than the mature broccoli. This one is called
BroccoSprouts. You can purchase broccoli sprouts at your
local health food store or grocery store.

It is possible that Broccoli sprouts could carry the
bacteria that make you sick - salmonella and e.coli, so
you may want to take them out of the container when
you get them home and soak in a bowl of water with
a few drops of grapefruit seed extract for three or four minutes.

Don't put the sprouts back in the same container unless you
soak that as well. After draining them for a few minutes
store them in the refrigerator.

With Breast cancer and Colon cancer so common these days,
be sure to add in this protective food, assisting your body to
fight off illness and cancer.

What If I Don't Like Sports?

Not everyone likes organized sports or team sports. If this sounds like you, don't sweat it. We're going to talk about what keeps some kids from liking sports. With a few changes, you might find out that there is a sport out there that you could like. But if not, we'll suggest other fun ways to stay active.

Learning About Sports

Sometimes, kids feel that they don't like sports because they may not understand how to play them or they haven't had much practice doing them. Sports can seem complicated because of all the rules and special equipment. Even the fields and courts they are played on come in different shapes and sizes and have confusing-looking lines drawn on them.

People spend many years learning about favorite sports and practicing how to do them well. So don't feel bad if you don't know the difference between a "corner kick" and a "goal kick" in soccer. If you want to learn more about a sport, you might ask your mom or dad about camps or programs that introduce kids to new sports. These may be better than just joining a team that starts playing games right away without much explaining first.

Gym class and intramural programs at school also can be a way to try new sports with a mix of kids. Another way to learn about a sport is to watch instructional videos or DVDs or check out library books that explain the rules and offer suggestions for kids learning to play them.

If you have an older friend or family member who's good at a sport, you might ask him or her to help you practice. Some sports are just good to understand, even if you never want to play on a competitive team. For instance, you might play softball or volleyball, just for fun, at a summer picnic.

A Bad Sports Experience

Some kids don't like organized sports because they were once on a team and they didn't have fun. Maybe all of the other kids seemed to know what they were doing and you felt unsure. Or maybe you didn't like the pressure of competing against other teams, where you know one team is going to win and the other is going to lose. Competition can bring out some intense emotions.

Sometimes, kids on a team get so fired up about winning that they may yell or get upset at a player who makes a mistake. This can be stressful - especially if it's you who made a mistake!

But everybody makes mistakes sometimes and no one should tease you for it. If they do, it's a good idea to talk with the coach or your mom or dad. Sometimes kids need to be reminded about being understanding and respectful to each other.

Parents and coaches also can get upset about a game situation and put too much pressure on kids. Kids might feel confused and stressed out during games if they're not quite sure what they should be doing.

But team sports also can be a great experience. Kids get to improve their skills and feel that team spirit as they work together toward a common goal. If you've had a bad experience with a team, maybe it's time to try a new sport or a new league. Some leagues and programs emphasize skill building over competition - and some leagues don't even keep score!

The Right Sport

There are dozens of sports, so you might not have found the one for you yet. Lots of kids try soccer and baseball. But what if your best sport is going to be volleyball or gymnastics? You'll have to try it and find out. Some kids are naturally graceful. Others are strong. And still others have great aim. Different sports require different skills, so you'll want to try different sports to find one that suits you. Some activities you might not think of as sports, such as karate or cheerleading, but they are great for staying active.

If you don't like being on a team that much, you might consider individual sports. An individual sport means a kid does the sport on his or her own. You can do these sports competitively or just for the fun of doing them. Here's a list of some individual sports:

  • swimming
  • diving
  • running
  • ice skating
  • wrestling
  • gymnastics
  • golf
  • tennis
  • skateboarding
  • in-line skating
  • biking
  • martial arts
  • bowling

What's the Big Deal About Sports?

You might wonder why grown-ups want you to try sports and be active. There's a good reason. Playing sports is a great form of exercise and exercise keeps your body healthy. We've already talked about how there are many sports to choose from, but there's even more good news: There are many other nonsport activities that can give you exercise and keep you active. Here are just a few:

  • playing at a playground
  • raking leaves
  • jumping rope
  • dancing around your bedroom
  • walking your dog
  • cleaning your room
  • watering the garden
  • washing the car
  • making a snowperson

You also might find that by limiting certain activities - like watching TV and playing computer games - you'll just naturally be more active.

So, no, you don't have to play a sport, but you might still find one you like. The most important thing is to be an active kid. And you have a world of activities to choose from. Somewhere out there is a special one that's just right for you!

5 Way to Avoid Sports Injuries

5 Way to Avoid Sports Injuries

Playing sports is a lot of fun. Getting hurt is not. Take these five steps to prevent injuries so you can stay in the game:

1. Wear protective gear, such as helmets, protective pads, and other gear.

2. Warm up.

3. Know the rules of the game.

4. Watch out for others.

5. Don't play when you're injured.

Let's find out more about each of these.

1. Wear Protective Gear

Protective gear is anything you wear that helps keep you from getting hurt. The gear you wear depends on the sport you play. Helmets are the most common protective gear. They protect your all-important head while you're playing football, hockey, baseball, softball, biking, skateboarding, and in-line skating, just to name a few!

Make sure you're wearing the right helmet for your sport. For instance, don't wear your baseball batting helmet when you're playing football! Your helmet should fit snugly but comfortably, and if it has a strap - like a bike helmet does - you need to fasten it. Otherwise, it will fall off when you need it most.

Other sports require eye protection, mouth guards, pads, wrist, elbow, and knee guards, and a protective cup (for boys only). And don't forget your feet. Cleats are worn in football, baseball, softball, and soccer. These shoes have special rubber or plastic points on the soles to help your feet grip the ground when you run around.

Talk with your parents or your coach to know what gear you need. Then wear that gear whenever you're practicing or playing.

2. Warm Up

It's not a good idea to just bolt on to the field and start playing. You shouldn't even start stretching until you're a little warmed up. So take a light jog to get loosened up and ready to play.

Doing some stretching also can get you prepared to hit the field. By warming up, you get yourself ready to play. Warming up your muscles and practicing a sport help keep you safe, too. Warm-ups that last 15 to 30 minutes and include slow, gradual stretching help lengthen your muscles and increase your blood flow and muscle temperature. That way, your muscles are ready to go and are much less likely to get hurt.

3. Know the Rules of the Game

Traffic lights at intersections help prevent crashes between the many cars and trucks that drive on the roads together. This works because drivers know the rules and follow them - at least most of the time. It's the same way with sports.

When players know the rules of the game - what's legal and what's not - fewer injuries happen. You and the other players know what to expect from each other. For instance, you know that in soccer you can't come from behind, crash into a player's legs, and steal the ball. It's legal - and safer - to go after the ball rather than the player.

With sports that use plays, it helps to understand the plays and what your role is in each one. Being where you're supposed to be can help you stay out of harm's way, too.

4. Watch Out for Others

Some rules don't have anything to do with scoring points or penalties. Some rules are just about protecting other people and being courteous. For instance, in baseball or softball, the batter can't fling the bat after hitting the ball and heading for first base. He or she must drop it so that it doesn't hit anyone. Likewise, a diver would make sure that the pool was clear before diving in. Otherwise, he or she might land on someone else.

One way you can watch out for others is to communicate on the field. For instance, a baseball player in the outfield might yell "I got it" to avoid a collision with another outfielder. Listening to your coach during a game also can help keep you safe. It's also good to just be courteous, like telling someone his or her shoe is untied. Check your shoes, too!

5. Don't Play When You're Injured

This is a really important one. If you love sports, it's tempting to get right back in the game, even after an injury. But playing when you're hurt - or before an injury has had a chance to fully heal - is a bad idea. It can lead to an even worse injury, one that might sideline you for a long time. Be honest with parents and coaches if you've been hurt. See a doctor for your injuries, when necessary, and follow his or her advice about how and when to return to practice and play.

Now you know what kids need to know about staying safe. Hopefully, if you follow rules 1, 2, 3, and 4, you won't need number 5. Or at least not quite as often!

President Bush Discusses SCHIP During Weekly Radio Address

"When it comes to SCHIP, we should be guided by a clear principle: Put poor children first. I urge Republicans and Democrats in Congress to support a bill that moves adults off this children's program -- and covers children who do not qualify for Medicaid, but whose families are struggling. If putting poor children first takes a little more than the 20 percent increase I have proposed in my budget for SCHIP, I am willing to work with leaders in Congress to find the additional money.

Ultimately, our Nation's goal should be to move children who have no health insurance to private coverage -- not to move children who already have private health insurance to government coverage. By working together, Republicans and Democrats can strengthen SCHIP, ensure that it reaches the children who need it, and find ways to help more American families get the private health coverage they need."

Setting the Record Straight: Democrats' SCHIP Bill Repackages Bad Policy
Senate Wastes Time With Partisan Political Statements Instead Of Passing A Bill To Cover Poor Kids First

"The Senate passed another SCHIP bill with major flaws, especially its failure to cover poor children first. Congress has known for weeks that the President would veto this bill. … Like the previous bill, this bill also shifts children with private insurance onto the government rolls, uses taxpayers' dollars to subsidize middle class families, and raises taxes. It does all this while costing even more over the next five years than the version the President previously vetoed."

- White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, 11/1/07

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) says the White House seems to be "'moving the goal posts,' raising new objections as soon as Congress tried to address each of the president's concerns." (Robert Pear, "Expecting Presidential Veto, Senate Passes Child Health Measure," The New York Times, 11/2/07)

Democrats' SCHIP Bill Contains The Same Flaws As The Vetoed Legislation

Congressional Democrats refused to meet with Administration officials designated by the President to negotiate on an SCHIP bill that serves poor kids first. Instead, the House of Representatives made a few adjustments at the margins of the vetoed bill and passed it again.

Like the bill the President vetoed, the bill passed last night by the Senate:

  • Allows States to avoid covering poor children first. The bill repeals the requirement that 95 percent of children below 200 percent of the Federal poverty level be covered before coverage is extended to new children from higher income families. The Democrats' new legislation also permits States to keep adults on the program through 2012.
  • Raises taxes to move 2 million children covered by private health insurance onto government-run programs with fewer choices and longer lines. Federal revenues are at an all-time high, and no tax increase of any kind is needed to finance SCHIP reauthorization. The President's Budget offsets not only his proposed new SCHIP spending but also proposes an additional $92 billion in mandatory savings over five years.
  • Uses taxpayers' dollars to subsidize middle class families. The Democrats' new legislation continues to cover children in families earning more than $62,000 per year (300 percent of the Federal poverty level). In addition, the legislation would not completely close the income disregard loophole, under which States could enroll children in families with income higher than $62,000 a year (for a family of four) by ignoring part of the family's income or expenses. The legislation fails to close the loophole for States expanding through Medicaid.
  • Allows SCHIP to cover ineligible individuals. The legislation imposes no sanction if a person fraudulently attests to being a U.S. citizen. The bill contains an "express lane" enrollment provision that makes it easy for ineligible people to be enrolled in SCHIP, with virtually no penalty to States for letting ineligible people enroll. In fact, States may be rewarded through the Performance Bonus for adding ineligible people to the rolls.

An Effective Natural Therapy for AIDS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), and Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS)

An Effective Natural Therapy for AIDS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), and Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS)

The Natural Therapy for AIDS, CFS, & CFIDS integrates the research work of Matthias Rath and Ian Brighthope. It is designed for people with AIDS, CFS, or CFIDS and people who have been tested HIV-positive.

Much of this document may come as a shock to you. The popular notions about AIDS - and the belief system held by most doctors - that if you are HIV positive that you will necessarily get AIDS, that AIDS is a death sentence, and that you must take anti-viral and synthetic protease inhibition drugs to stop it, are not supported by medical evidence.

First, the so-called HIV test gives many false positives, so that you may not be infected with anything at all. People who have been in monogamous relationships for years have suddenly found themselves labeled "HIV positive" because they were ill with influenza. Even pregnancy can trigger an "HIV positive" test.

Second, despite what your doctor might have said to you, no one has ever shown that HIV causes AIDS. But a positive HIV test may be a marker that you are infected with HHV-6A (one of the primary CFIDS viruses and the likely virus in AIDS progression), which has no latency period – it begins to destroy tissue and the immune system immediately.

Finally, the AIDS drugs - the anti-retrovirals (ARVs) such as AZT and Combivir and synthetic protease inhibitors such as Kaletra - do not cure or stop AIDS. They are extremely toxic chemicals whose drug trials have been flawed or fraudulent, and whose so-called "side effects" are eventually deadly. The anti-retroviral medications eventually cause bone marrow failure or complete destruction of the immune system, and the synthetic protease inhibitors cause defects in muscle and fat, preventing normal cellular repair and replacement, and eventually causing muscle wasting and death.

The regimen described here is a complete AIDS/CFS/CFIDS regimen that can be used as an alternative to pharmaceutical drugs. It has been shown to dramatically reduce viral load, increase white blood cell count, and enhance health.

How does this natural AIDS/CFIDS therapy work?

The symptoms of AIDS, CFS, and CFIDS – immune dysfunction, opportunistic infection, low white blood cell counts, and tissue destruction – are caused by drugs, industrial toxins, and pharmaceutical immune system suppressants, and may be accelerated by the enzymes produced by viruses such as HHV-6A, Epstein-Barr and others. The viruses spread and replicate by using an enzyme called protease, which destroys collagen.

In 1991, Dr. Matthias Rath found that the amino acid lysine, when combined with vitamin C, inhibit collagen destruction. In spring, 2002, he and his research team announced that they had discovered that adding the amino acid proline and an extract of green tea called EGCG had stopped protease destruction of collagen - connective tissue - even by cancer cells.

The AIDS/CFS/CFIDS regimen works in six ways to stop AIDS, CFS, and CFIDS and their symptoms:

  1. The core nutrients and antioxidants of the regimen together stop the destructive action of toxins, free radicals, and proteases - they act as a natural protease inhibitor. In other words, the toxin and protease molecules are neutralized by the regimen components into harmless chemicals that are then excreted. They act as "decoys" to prevent the toxins and proteases from attacking T-cells and destroying collagen in living tissue. Since they are ordinary, natural amino acids, they do not interfere with normal body chemistry. (Synthetic protease inhibitors such as Efaverenz and Crixivan interfere with normal protein synthesis, so that your body cannot repair and replace muscle tissue. Long term use causes muscle wasting and death.)

  2. The regimen builds and strengthens your immune system by supplying the raw materials for building healthy white blood cells, which can identify, surround, and destroy viruses and unhealthy cells. This fortifies the body to fight the AIDS, CFS, and CFIDS viruses directly and strengthens the body against opportunistic infections.

  3. The therapy contains several potent natural antimicrobial nutrients. There are many studies showing the effectiveness of these natural antimicrobial nutrients, yet they are completely non-toxic in enormous quantities since they are common food and drink nutrients. (Synthetic anti-viral drugs such as AZT and Nevirapine interfere with normal cell division and function. Long term use causes AIDS progression, immune suppression, bone marrow failure, and death.)

  4. The core components of the regimen allow your body to rebuild and regenerate the connective tissue – collagen – that has been destroyed.

  5. When used in conjunction with a healthy diet, the therapy provides sufficient nutrients to restore normal cellular metabolism. These nutrients are often deficient in AIDS, CFS, and CFIDS patients.

  6. The regimen increases peripheral circulation, including to neurons in the brain and elsewhere. This helps to reduce or prevent neuropathy, a common problem faced by AIDS, CFS, and CFIDS patients.

Are there documented studies of this therapy?

The studies thus far have been small pre-clinical studies done by Dr. Rath and his associates, and are ongoing. The results have been very positive. For the first time, there have been documented cases of dramatically reduced viral loads and improved health solely using a natural therapy. Anecdotal reports of the therapy can be found at http://www.cqs.com/winningwaronaids.htm.

Dr. Rath has been working in South Africa to promote his work and oppose the pharamaceutical industry's promotion of toxic drugs. His foundation website, http://www.dr-rath-foundation.org, shows some of the results of his work there.

It is currently impossible for natural regimens to get evaluated in government-sponsored research studies; the FDA, CDC, and NIH are all beholden to pharmaceutical interests.

Is this AIDS/CFS/CFIDS therapy safe?

The AIDS/CFS/CFIDS therapy nutrients are ordinary food nutrients. It has no side effects.

Does the AIDS/CFS/CFIDS therapy interfere with pharmaceutical drugs for AIDS?

The regimen does not interfere with these drugs. However, AIDS drugs are extremely toxic and are often the cause of AIDS progression, so it is recommended that you stop taking them immediately.

What about other medications and insulin?

If you are taking Lipitor or another statin drug to reduce cholesterol, you can stop taking it after starting this regimen, since it naturally reduces cholesterol levels.

If you are taking other heart or blood-pressure remedies (e.g., beta blocker, calcium channel blocker), ask your doctor to carefully monitor the symptoms that these drugs are supposed to address, and taper off the dosage as your cardiovascular system becomes healthy again on its own.

If you are taking insulin, monitor your blood sugar carefully, as your need for insulin will probably be reduced significantly.

If you are being treated for any other illnesses or for opportunistic infections or pneumonia, you must avoid immune-suppressive drugs such as hydrocortisone and prednisone and fluoride-based immune suppressants such as fluocinolone.

Why don’t most doctors know about this therapy?

This therapy and other natural remedies for chronic illness are not known by most doctors because their primary source of information is the pharmaceutical industry, which has no incentive to publicize non-patentable, inexpensive, natural remedies or cures. Doctors are literally barraged each day with drug company reports, press releases, and free samples. Meanwhile, we are treated to advertisements for these expensive new pharmaceutical "remedies" on television and in virtually every newspaper and magazine in the United States, so that we know just which drugs to ask for from our doctors.

The conventional treatments for chronic illnesses do not generally cure or prevent these illnesses, but instead call for expensive maintenance drugs or toxic chemicals that destroy the immune system and inhibit healing.

These maintenance and/or toxic therapies represent hundreds of billions of dollars per year in drug company revenue. Thus cheap, non-patentable natural remedies and cures represent a major threat to these companies.

Stopping Cancer Naturally - An Effective Natural Therapy for Cancer

Stopping Cancer Naturally - An Effective Natural Therapy for Cancer

Cancer can be stopped naturally. Recent medical research has revealed the mechanism by which cancer spreads, as well as safe chemotherapeutic agents that target cancer cells but do not harm vital, healthy tissue. The article below describes an effective therapy that combines these two strategies.

(If you are not yet familiar with natural therapies, please click here for an easy-to-read introduction at the Natural Therapy website home page.)

The Natural Cancer Therapy is a complete, safe, non-toxic cancer therapy, based on the research of Dr. Matthias Rath, Dr. Hugh Riordan, and others. It can be used instead of standard oncological cancer therapy. This therapy has been shown to reverse cancer, inhibit cancer spread and metastases and enhance health. Taken after standard oncology therapy, the regimen helps to rebuild and maintain the immune system and prevent metastases. It is non-toxic and has no adverse side effects.

You can get the nutritional supplements used for this therapy easily. They are readily available and affordable. You do not need to pay huge amounts of money for rare or exotic substances. You do not need to drink gallons of vegetable or fruit juice. You do not need to travel to Mexico, Bermuda, China or Switzerland. The therapy is easy for you to understand and follow without technical training.

Where does cancer come from?

Cancer cells arise from a toxic chemical, biological, or radiation exposure. Their DNA has been mutated, and they begin to reproduce abnormally fast. Normally, the immune system recognizes cancer cells and isolates and destroys them without intervention. But if there are too many, or your immune system is compromised, they reproduce rapidly and then spread using a protein-dissolving enzyme called protease.

How can cancer be stopped?

In 1991, Dr. Matthias Rath found that the amino acid lysine, when combined with vitamin C, appeared to inhibit the action of protease. In spring, 2002, he and his research team announced that they had discovered that adding the amino acid proline and an extract of green tea called EGCG had stopped protease destruction of collagen - connective tissue.

The natural cancer regimen works in six ways:

  1. The core nutrients in the regimen stop the spread of cancer cells by inhibiting the action of protease. In other words, the protease molecules are neutralized by components of the regimen, which act as "decoys" to neutralize the protease, keeping it from destroying collagen in living tissue. The cancer cells then become isolated and then cannot reproduce or spread.

  2. The regimen builds and strengthens your immune system by supplying the raw materials for building healthy white blood cells, which can identify, surround, and destroy unhealthy and cancerous cells.

  3. The regimen contains two known selective chemotherapeutic agents. Unlike non-selective pharmaceutical chemotherapies such as tamoxifen or radiation therapy, which are toxic to all cells in the body, these selective chemotherapeutic agents are only toxic to cancer cells. They trigger a mechanism called apoptosis – programmed cell death – but only in abnormal and cancerous cells. They are perfectly safe to normal cells.

  4. The antioxidants in the regimen acts as a toxin "sponge mop." Often the cause of the cancer – toxic chemicals – are still present in the body, and cancer cells also produce toxins (other than protease) that can destroy other cells. Antioxidants directly neutralize some of these toxins into harmless chemicals (that are then excreted), or help other detoxifying body mechanisms, such as in the liver.

  5. The core components in the regimen allow your body to quickly rebuild and regenerate the connective tissue – collagen – that has been destroyed by the cancer cells.

  6. The regimen provides sufficient nutrients – vitamins and minerals – to restore normal cellular metabolism. These nutrients are often deficient in cancer patients.

In summary, this cancer remedy is unique in that it uses completely natural food-grade nutrients to enhance the body’s innate cancer-fighting and restorative abilities.

Why is this therapy superior to other natural therapies?

This regimen of this therapy is built upon the very "raw materials" that build and rebuild the connective tissue that cancer cells are either attempting to destroy or have already destroyed. The regimen provides multi-faceted protection against the cancer cells – protease inhibition as well as immune enhancement – and at the same time enabling the body to heal and rejuvenate. In lower doses, it can be used as a lifetime regimen to maintain health.

Where can I see testimonials of people who have used this regimen?

This regimen is primarily based on the research and clinical work of Dr. Matthias Rath, the research physician who discovered natural protease inhibitors. He has a very impressive collection of testimonials at his research website: http://www.stopping-cancer-naturally.org/us/index.html

Is this natural cancer therapy safe?

The cancer therapy nutrients are ordinary food nutrients. The regimen has no side effects.

Does this cancer regimen interfere with chemotherapy or radiation therapy?

The regimen does not interfere with these oncology procedures; in fact, the vitamin C in the regimen reduces the side effects of these drugs by neutralizing toxins produced by their action in your body.

What about other medications and insulin?

If you are currently taking a drug to reduce cholesterol, you will need to have your physician monitor your cholesterol count carefully and frequently when you start the natural therapy, since the regimen (through a different mechanism) also addresses the symptoms of cardiovascular disease.

If you are taking other heart or blood-pressure remedies (e.g., beta blocker, calcium channel blocker), ask your doctor to carefully monitor the symptoms that these drugs are supposed to address, and taper off the dosage as your cardiovascular system becomes healthy again on its own.

Why don’t most doctors know about this therapy?
